FAQs
When can I start postnatal Pilates?
1
This is up to you. Do give your body time to recover and rest after birth but when you are ready for movement you can join a class. My early postnatal class is usually the place to start with 5 months postpartum or less but which level would suit you best is entirely up to you.
Can I bring my baby or child?
2
Yes absolutely. It’s hard enough trying to find time and energy to exercise as a mum so no need to add finding childcare to the list for these classes. There are toys for toddlers at St Thomas on the Bourne so if that would suit you better book in there.
Is it suitable after caesarean?
3
Yes, no matter how you birthed, postnatal Pilates will help you reconnect with you core and pelvic floor and will give you the knowledge to progress with exercise in a way that suits you. You may need a longer rest period after a caesarean so only come to class when you are fully healed from your surgery.
When can I move to level 2?
4
You can actually join this class without having attended my early postnatal classes. Level 2 classes are paced according to who attends, with levels and modifications given so that everyone can find a challenge that suits their postnatal journey. You can keep attending level 2 classes too, as many people do!
