Pregnancy Pilates in Farnham - keep strong and mobile throughout pregnancy
Why Pregnancy Pilates?
A growing body of research is challenging long-standing assumptions about what the pregnant body can safely handle. Research now shows that exercise can help reduce the risk of gestational diabetes and some pregnancy complications, while supporting your recovery after birth. Basically, movement is a good thing for mums-to-be!
While I’m not currently running a regular group pregnancy class, I offer bespoke 1:1 Pregnancy Reformer Pilates sessions from my private studio in Frensham.
These sessions are tailored to you and your stage of pregnancy, helping you maintain strength, mobility and confidence as your body changes.
Whether you’re new to Pilates, an experienced mover or simply want more personalised support during pregnancy, your session will be adapted to your individual needs
FAQs
I’ve never done Pilates before
1
You can start, or continue exercise at any point in your pregnancy journey and it’s not a problem if you’ve never done Pilates before.
What stage of pregnancy is it for?
2
You can exercise at any stage of pregnancy, if you feel up to it, but as movement in the second and third trimester becomes more challenging this is when a pregnancy session can become really helpful.
What will we do in a session?
3
Our aim in Pilates will be to strengthen legs and core to help alleviate or avoid pelvic girdle pain and lower back pain. We’ll include mobility work, breath work and pelvic floor release work to help keep good function and prepare for birth. Utilising equipment like the reformer and tower to access parts of the body that increasingly become hard to challenge as pregnancy progresses.
Do I need to bring anything?
4
Ideally you’d bring a birth ball/large exercise ball that you can sit on. This is to help us access and strengthen parts of the body that become increasingly inaccessible in the later stages of pregnancy.
